The ANVIL is the symbol of Excellence in public relations in the Philippines, awarded by a distinguished multi-sectoral jury to outstanding public relations programs and tools designed and implemented in the past year.
The Anvil Awards competition is conducted annually by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines.
The Anvil symbolizes excellence and quality. The standards for winning are high. No award is given unless the standards are met.

Rules Governing the 45th Anvil Awards
I. ELIGIBILITY
Any public relations program or tool implemented from October 1, 2008 to October 31, 2009 is eligible for the Anvil Awards.
NOMINATION
Companies may nominate their outstanding programs or tools, or both. Nominations may be made by the project proponent or a third party beneficiary.

III. PREPARING THE ENTRY
1. Choose the category and sub-category.
2. Prepare five (5) sets of the following:
A. Duly filled-out Entry Form Entry Form per entry) indicating: project title, category and sub-category, proponent’s name, objectives, target publics, methodology, and results achieved.
B. The Entry Summary
One (1) Page only
- Paper size : 8 1/2x11
- Font size : 12 points
- Font type : Arial
- Margins : one inch on all sides
- Spacing : Single space
Succinct and precise, the summary should provide a persuasive discussion of the entry in terms of:
1. Objectives
- Describe in measurable terms what you want to achieve.
- What prompted the program or project? Is there an existing concern or potential problem that you want to address?
- What was the overall strategy used?
- What were the resources used?
- How did the plan correlate to the objectives?
- Describe the implementation of the plan.
- What were the key tactics? How would you justify the choice of PR tools used?
- Where there other organizations involved?
- Describe the qualitative and quantitative results achieved
- Were the objectives attained?
- What evaluation methods were used?
- What are the factors that contributed to the success of the program?
- What were the challenges encountered and how did you address these?
- Entries that do not follow the prescribed format will not be considered valid.
- Submit a separate soft copy of the duly accomplished entry form with three (3) photos (300 dpi) relevant to your entry.
C. Supporting Materials
Relevant photos, clippings, copies of print materials may be used. Please limit video cassette or CD/DVD material to 10 minutes. Other collaterals such as T-shirts, ID pins or buttons, flyers, brochures, invitations, etc. should be scanned/photocopied in 8½” x 11” bond paper.
IV. THE JUDGING PROCESS
SCREENING
The screening committee composed of PRSP members and other qualified public relations professionals selects entries qualified for final judging. The screening process will take note of every piece of information contained in the Official Entry Form, and such information shall be validated by supporting documents.
JUDGING
The jurors are divided into two teams – one to evaluate PR programs, the other to evaluate PR tools. These teams individually review and rate all the entries in their respective categories.
The jurors then meet en banc to determine the winners for each of the award categories. The decision of the Board of Jurors is final.
The Grand Anvil Award
The Grand Anvil Award is presented to a public relations program that undisputable surpasses all programs already rated as “Excellent” in their respective categories. The program should not only be exemplary but should be sustainable, generating a chain reaction of benefits to a multiplicity of stakeholders.
The Bronze Anvil Award
The Bronze Anvil Award is presented to a public relations tool that convincingly stands out from among public relations tools already rated as “Excellent” in their respective categories.
The Anvil Award of Excellence
The Anvil Award of Excellence is presented to an outstanding program or tool in a specific category that decisively surpasses the set standards and shows the synergy of objectives, strategy, execution, and impact.
The Anvil Award of Merit
The Anvil Award of Merit is presented to a program or tool that clearly exceeds the minimum or qualifying standards.
